Adoption Information
Adoption Process for AMP:
* Please research the Dachshund breed prior to adopting!
PLEASE NOTE:
You must be 21 years of age to adopt from AMP.
STEP 1: Complete a AMP Adoption Application. The AMP Adoption Application will be emailed to you as an attachment or click the link below. Please fill it out completely and return to adoptmeplease@comcast.net. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

STEP 2: AMP conducts vet and reference checks. AMP will contact your current vet and your references to obtain information about you (and your family) as potential dachshund pet owners. If your rent your home, written proof of permission to have a dog will be required (lease or letter from Landlord with their contact information) and proof of a paid pet deposit will also be required.
STEP 3: AMP may conduct a home visit. An AMP representative will schedule a home visit. The home visits can last between 20 minutes to an hour depending on the questions, comments and concerns each party might have. Please have all family members and current pets available during home visit.
STEP 4: AMP will determine which dachshund is right for you. AMP will search our "inventory" of available dachshunds. Of course we do take into consideration which dachshunds(s) you are interested in, but ultimately we will match the dachshund that fits your home and lifestyle.
STEP 5: Adoption contract must be completed. Once the right dachshund is ready to join your family, an AMP representative will go over the adoption contract and both you and AMP will sign the adoption contract.
STEP 6: Adoption Fee is paid (Cash Only). Our Adoption Fees are as follows:
Puppies (8 weeks- 6 months) $275 USD
Adults $200.00 USD
Senior to Senior (Age 65 & up) (Dogs 7+) $75 USD
Private Listings: Price Listed in Ad
All AMP dogs will have the following prior to being adopted:
* Spay/Neuter (if age appropriate) or Spay/Neuter Contract (see Step 8 for details) *Up to date on all vaccines/worming
*Micro-Chipped (chip remains in AMP's Name for the life of the pet)
STEP 7: AMP will help coordinate transportation of your new family member to his/her forever home. If you are out of the immediate area, you will be required to meet the AMP representative at a predetermined site to pick up your new dog. AMP does not ship dogs anywhere for any reason. All meet & greets, pickup and or drop off of dog will be in Skagit or N. Snohomish Counties only.
STEP 8: All puppies that are not of age/weight to be spayed/neutered will come with a Spay/Neuter contract. Proof of surgery will need to be provided within 3 months or when a vet determines the dog is healthy/mature enough to alter (written statement from Vet required). If the surgery is not preformed then AMP reserves the right to reclaim the dog and the adopt fee and any other money spent on the care of the dog is forfeited by Adopter. This contract is non-negotiable.
